I started out reading it as a? . b()? . c(), got confused by this, frantically searched for users's answer, realised it didn’t talk about any x?.y at all; only on revisiting this answer did it click that ?. is one operator here. Perhaps calling that out with an introductory sentence that names the operator and language would be helpful.
